After School Clubs
At Grayrigg we are dedicated to ensuring the children have opportunities to participate in a range of activities. Grayrigg is a small village and the only local sports club available to children is table tennis. Therefore, school have planned a range of free after school clubs to provide children with a range of physical sporting activities.
How does After School Club work?
School finishes at 3.15pm, from 3.15 – 3.30pm school staff will prepare children for After School Club.
3.30-4.30pm: Children will participate in a free after school activity available to all children.
4.30-5.30pm: If you require additional after school care, this is available at a cost of £3.00 per child.
Please note as part of our wrap around care, children can be booked into school from 8:15 (please contact the school office to book).
What activities are on offer?
Monday: Little Kickers@Grayrigg.
Every Monday, Scott from Little Kickers runs our after school club. Developing football skills in a fun way with the younger children, whilst developing coaching skills with the older children.
Every Tuesday, coach Hannah runs a multi-skills club with the children. She works with those attending, adapting the club to suit the children.
Every Wednesday, ex-pupil and trainee teacher Lucy Kelly runs our change 4 life club. Lucy will admit that PE wasn’t her favourite subject at school. She has specifically designed the club to make physical activity fun and non-competitive - so if your child is reluctant, this club is perfect for them. Having said that, the club is popular with all children.
Thursday: Brewery Youth Dance@Grayrigg.
Every Thursday, Ashley leads dance club after school, ending the year with a performance for parents. She keeps it interesting by changing the focus each half term. In 2014- 15 they focused on a different dance style each half term (from street, to Bollywood, even contemporary). This year they are focussing on dancing through the ages (from waltz all the way through to krumping!)
Friday: Chill Out.
We have responded to the needs of the children on Fridays and changed our clubs. As the children spend Friday afternoon in the forest classroom, they want nothing more than to relax, with a film and hot chocolate (and occasionally some marshmallows).
Contact the school office for more details or to book a place for your child.
